Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Scientist to join NILO Therapeutics as part of our burgeoning team. This is an exciting opportunity to design and implement state-of-the-art bioinformatics pipelines, workflows and analyses that will drive our therapeutic discovery efforts. You will play a crucial role in profiling cellular circuits and integrating data from various sources to uncover novel biological insights.

As a Data Scientist, you will collaborate closely with NILO’s multidisciplinary research team, including experts in Neuroscience, Biology, Immunology, Molecular Biology and Chemistry. Your work will be instrumental in developing strategies to tackle complex problems, enhancing target prioritization, and advancing our proprietary platform technologies. You will be a creative and collaborative problem-solver, passionate about addressing challenging technical and biological questions with innovative data science solutions.

What you’ll do:

  • Apply rigorous computational and statistical analysis techniques in a well-documented and detail-oriented manner to profile cellular environments using existing public databases, commercial data resources, and data derived from NILO’s platform technologies.
  • Design, build, and execute bioinformatics pipelines and applications for data analysis and visualization to advance NILO Therapeutics’ platform technologies and therapeutic strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Neuroscience, Biology, Immunology, and Chemistry groups to identify and develop tools and workflows to support NILO’s research strategies and objectives.
  • Act as a leader from the dry bench, aiding the broader team in maintaining statistical rigor in experimental design and in data interpretation while also helping to shape research strategy and decision making.
  • Contribute to the collective knowledge of multidisciplinary teams through extensive idea exchange and collaboration.
  • Stay current on emerging bioinformatics approaches and provide scientific mentoring and technical training to team members as appropriate.

Key Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, or similar subject areas, with 0-4 years of postgraduate experience.
  • Expertise in a broad range of current bioinformatics and computational biology tools, methods, cloud resources and applications.
  • Excellent analytical and programming skills (e.g. R, Python, Bash).
  • Proven ability to draw robust conclusions from complex datasets and present them clearly to broad audiences.
  • An established record of innovative research achievements in bioinformatics reported in top-tier journals and patent applications.
  • Experience handling complex data types (Illumina sequencing, scRNA-Seq, RNA-Seq, DNA-Seq, Proteomics, public databases, imaging, etc.).
